2017 Father's Day Classic Info and Preview

June 16, 2017

Our second tournament of the year is tomorrow and it's looking like a hot one. The Wiffle Gods have smiled upon us, as a rainy forecast has disappeared. Seven teams will descend on BGP in search of some valuable points and some caish.

SCHEDULE

RULES

Also, if you didn't hear about 1v1 Week, it was a good time. Chris Roeder walked away as the 1v1 Champ and earned himself a free entry to the FDC! You can read up on 1v1 Week here.

FINALLY, because this is part of what I do, let's power rank our squads!

7.) Crazed Loons

Despite the ranking I believe in the Ciolek crew. Pete is going to be much improved by the end of this year and Nick is a stud in the making. Just need a few more tournaments.

6.) Old and Retired

Hannon loses Loftus but gains Dotzel. I've never seen him hit much but he's a good arm. It will be interesting to see him transition to the slow pitch game.

5.) Papa Jack's

It seemed like the offense disappeared in the ODT. I'm not sure if that was due to the conditions or the schedule, but I expect them to bounce back.

4.) Pavlov's Dawgs

Dylan has been a magician on the mound so far, but he started hot last year too and then cooled right off. I'd like to see the offense pick up, but if he's pitching like that it doesn't matter.

3.) Freaky Franchise

Hard to rank the Franchise higher until they beat the teams on top of them. The Crush shut them out and Roeder had their number last year, so they'll sit third for now.

2.) Caledonia Crush

The last time we saw them at BGP they got no-hit in the finals of the ODT. I expect Regis to come back guns blazing, and they'll put up big numbers again.

1.) Smashing Wiffles at Grapes

Roeder and Coyk are back with SWAG, and we saw what they can do with no third player last year. They mash the ball, Roeder hit 18 HR in 3 1v1 games, and I think they're the best team in the nation.
